"Quari" is the calming influence in our catgroup. He is always peaceful, friendly, and Luna's best friend.
On the other hand, he really is our problem cat. He is suffering from seizure disorder, probably caused by high pressure in his brain, as he has a hydrocephalus.
If your cat starts having epileptic seizures the most important thing is not to worry too much. A good (!) vet who is performing an accurate diagnosis will be able to find the underlying cause for the seizures in many cases - then the cat can be treated and "healed".
If a cause for the seizures cannot be found and the fits come frequently, or with vehemence (more than 1 per month or lasting longer than 5 minutes each), there are different medications to adjust the cats to, so that they will only get very few or even no attacks any more. Usually this medication is tolerated very well during the whole cat's life, normally without any adverse side effects that impact their quality of life.
If you search for seizure disorders in cats you will find a lot of profound informations. But the really greatest source of help and information you will find here in the international maillinglist epi-felines at yahoo. I strongly advise to join it.
A German text about the special aspects in feeding cats with seizure disorder you will find here: Epi-Katzen füttern (translation is in progress).
